Here’s a common training dilemma: “The trainers are great, but they don’t know our specific job skills. Our staff is experienced in job skills, but they don’t know how to train. What am I supposed to do?”

The answer: train the job experts on how to train others. This is usually called “on-job training” or “training the trainer,” and it is an effective way to get the best of both worlds: content expertise and training know-how.

The training will cover the use of the “Training within industry” method. This method has a simple aim of getting staff to quickly remember how to do a job;
• correctly

• conscientiously

Upon completion, participants will be better prepared to:
• Use adult learning principles
• Plan, prepare and structure a workplace training session
• Write “job instruction breakdown sheets” (JIBS)
• Provide training in a structured and measurable way
• Match training to learning styles
• Present the content effectively
• Use the four-step skills training method
• Practice what they’ve learned
• Communicate in a way that improves learning outcomes
• Demonstrate empathy and understanding by the use of questioning, listening and participative learning methods
• Understand ways of checking that learning has occurred and competencies gained

Who should attend?
Anyone who delivers one to one and small group training sessions. This workshop is ideal for people who are new to training or people who have found themselves carrying out training with no or little previous development in on-job training.

If you run a trades/construction company and want to be more profitable without working evenings and weekends, this workshop is a must.

If you’re like most tradies, you may find yourself frustrated, working long hours and not really making enough money to feel like the struggle is worth it. Battling the feast or famine cycle of “not enough work” then “too much”, while juggling cashflow headaches to keep everyone paid.

There is a better way. In this workshop you will learn:

 The “Six Profit Multipliers” – the six key areas that drive profits in your tradie business
 How to use KPIs and which numbers you should be tracking to make your business grow financially
 How to get off the business owners hamster wheel (which only turns when you run) and claim back a minimum of two hours every single day
 How to apply the “80/20 Rule” in every part of your business, to know exactly where you should put your efforts for maximum return
 Defining which profit strategies will work best for your business (not just following someone else’s plan)

This is a 3 hour practical workshop, not theory, so you will walk away with a clear plan to increase your tradie business profits in the next 6-12 months (while also reducing your working hours and stress)

Accident investigation provides one of the most important sources of information needed to drive improvements in workplace health & safety. The new Health & Safety at Work Act and Regulations place a legal requirement on businesses to review notifiable events i.e. investigate accidents.

For an accident investigation to be effective it needs to be structured and systematic. It also needs to be performed by trained and competent employees who can maintain an 'open mind' throughout the investigation. It is too easy to 'jump to conclusions', blame the worker and miss the opportunity to really learn from the incident and therefore prevent a similar occurrence.

This is a very practical and hands-on training course. The exercises will help the participants to recognise biases they bring to an accident investigation and how this mind-set can influence the outcomes of an investigation.

Workshop content
• What does the law require?
• An understanding of the ICAM system - the investigation steps techniques
• Identifying the facts
• Accident causation
• Assessing causation factors
• Preparing and writing the report
• Follow-up action

Do you have staff you would like to help? Would you like to develop your coaching skills and help to mentor others around you?

The ability to effectively mentor others is a tremendous asset for any manager or leader of people. The key to this requires specific skills to establish the gap between where individuals are now and where they want to be, to provide honest and valuable feedback, and to enable others to see challenges in a different way and find answers that they had not considered before.

Supervisors and Managers who learn to use a coaching approach will get better long term results and avoid the pitfall associated with a “command and control” style. Continuing with a “command and control” style will result in greater workloads for the Manager and low levels of staff engagement, poor team culture and low work performance.

This workshop is a great opportunity to grow and develop your coaching skills, and to equip you with the knowledge, tools and strategies to be an effective leader. Don’t miss this opportunity to develop and grow your mentoring skills and impact on others. This will be a practical half day workshop.

Outcomes from using the coaching and mentoring style are
• Greater team performance results that meet the needs of the group and the business.
• Improved high levels of employee commitment.
• improved employee skills and abilities.
• employees engaged and perform to their best and are as self-sufficiently as possible.
• Greater productivity by maximizing your resources.
• Constructive working relationships with your staff.
